The Plan signals your desire to earn an educational stipend. You cannot receive points for participation until the plan is on file. Once your plan is received, a file will be created for you and will be maintained during your time at Butler Community College. This plan must be renewed every three (3) years.
Activities intended for a professional development stipend must be clearly related to goals included on the Professional Development Plan. This voluntary plan is for those who choose to participate in professional development hours that are not full-time employees of Butler and teach or work in an Adjunct capacity. In order to be paid a stipend, you must be currently employed at Butler.
Professional Development Points
PD points are awarded on a one hour – one point basis for traditional Butler workshops. These points will accumulate for a maximum of 3 years. At the end of the three year period, these points will expire. Points and plans are documented in the Faculty Development office. You may request a transcript of your hours and expect it by email within 48 hours.
Exceptions include points awarded for Institutional Development Days, for select online trainings, and for conferences and credit hour courses you pay for out of pocket. These must first be pre-approved by your dean (there is a form for that). One credit hour is equal to 5 points but coursework taken at Butler, via the tuition-assistance benefit, will not qualify for points towards the stipend. If you pay for these credit hours, you could then apply for points with the preapproval on file.
Though you may repeat our workshops, you will receive points only for the first time attended. You may also receive double points for presenting a workshop.
Redeeming the Stipend
In order to receive your PD stipend, you must complete, sign and submit this Request for Payment to the Director of Faculty Development by the 12th of the month. Your request will be processed and submitted to Human Resources for payment which will be paid in your regular Adjunct Faculty check. It will show as an educational stipend (Ed Adv) so you can tell it has been paid.
I am requesting to be paid for the activities listed above and/or by the affixed transcript of hours issued by the office of Faculty Development. By my electronic signature I certify this to be an accurate representation of the workshops, training sessions, meetings, etc. in which I have participated and have not been previously rewarded a stipend.
